A Nigerian woman has emotionally shared a heartbreaking story of how she temporarily went blind during her third pregnancy and sadly lost her unborn child, which she blames on medical negligence in the hospital she attended.

The deeply touching account was posted on TikTok by the woman known as @mrs.temishe, who opened up about the painful journey she endured while carrying her third child.

She recounted how the ordeal began with persistent and severe headaches and discomfort around her eye and face, symptoms she later discovered were related to an underlying hormonal issue.

“I was pregnant with my third child and was admitted due to very high blood sugar,” she explained. “Soon after, I started having a sharp migraine on the right side of my head and my eye. The hospital referred me to an eye specialist, and not long after, I lost my ability to smell and perceive odors.”

As her symptoms worsened, she was booked for surgery. However, upon entering the theatre, she was shocked and discouraged by the poor state of the facility.

“I entered the theatre and the first thing I saw was a generator. That was when I knew something was seriously wrong,” she recalled with distress.

Though the surgery was carried out, complications persisted after her discharge. She started bleeding profusely at home and was rushed back to the same hospital where she had first received care during the pregnancy.

There, she received devastating news—her baby had no heartbeat. She was left heartbroken by the loss, and she believes that if doctors had acted more swiftly and the hospital had better facilities, her baby could have survived.

She explained that her temporary blindness was due to a hormone-related condition common in pregnancy, which, if not properly diagnosed and treated early, can lead to critical health risks for the mother and child.

The video has since gone viral, drawing massive attention from Nigerians, many of whom flooded the comments with condolences and criticism of the healthcare system in the country.
