Nigerian Islamic cleric and marriage counselor, Bello Muhammed Tahir (BMT), has strongly criticized the negative behavior of some Muslim first wives who label potential second wives as “husband snatchers.” He described this attitude as both “disgusting” and “unacceptable,” warning that such thinking lacks both Islamic foundation and emotional maturity.
In a lengthy and thought-provoking Facebook post shared on Monday, July 21, Tahir addressed the widespread misconception among certain first wives who believe that being the first woman a man marries grants them full ownership over him. He argued that this belief is deeply flawed and contradicts Islamic teachings on polygamy and marriage rights.
Tahir did not hold back as he went further to assert that even Christians have evolved beyond such outdated views and no longer perceive women entering into plural marriages as “husband snatchers.” He urged Muslim women to reflect on their conduct and align their views with proper Islamic guidance.

“It is sickening and very unpalatable how Muslim first wives think that a potential second wife is a husband snatcher.

How does being the first wife make the man your property that any other woman can’t be interested in him?
Just how? To say that this is coming from Muslims is dissatisfying.
Even Christians don’t think this way anymore.
I hope Allāh doesn’t test you one day where the table turns and you have to be at the mercy of another.
