A Nigerian man has been apprehended by members of the community for allegedly breaking into a building that is still under construction and making away with vital materials including electrical wires and aluminum window frames.
The event came to public attention through a video shared on a popular social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), where the incident sparked widespread discussions about construction site theft and the need for improved security measures in such locations.
In the footage, the almost-completed building is seen with signs of forced entry and significant material loss. Electrical wiring had been pulled from walls and ceilings, while several aluminum window frames had been removed, suggesting a calculated operation by the suspect.
The video also highlights the ceiling area through which the suspect reportedly gained access to the interior of the house. The damage was extensive and appeared to have been done with the intent to extract as many materials as possible without immediate detection.
According to information posted alongside the video, the young man was caught red-handed by locals. He was held by a group of men who led him through the premises, confronting him with the damages and missing fittings as they recorded the process.
The group later escorted the suspect to a different location, suspected to be a hidden stash point or temporary hideout. It is believed that this was where he had stored stolen materials, not only from this building but potentially from other uncompleted structures in the vicinity.
