A Nigerian husband has been taken into custody after he allegedly assaulted his wife just four days after she gave birth to their child, and shockingly, in the presence of his mother-in-law.
The disturbing incident came to light after a series of posts circulated on X (formerly Twitter), where a video clip showed the newborn being held by a woman—believed to be a relative—while the man, who allegedly carried out the assault, was being restrained and questioned by police officers at the scene.
In the now-viral video, the man could be heard admitting to a disagreement with his wife. He stated, “We had issues, she was rushed to the hospital.”
A concerned voice in the background could then be heard saying, “She’s on oxygen, not breathing.” This added a layer of urgency and distress to an already troubling situation, as it confirmed that the victim's health had been critically affected by the alleged violence.
The video has since triggered massive outrage on social media, as many users expressed disbelief, anger, and sorrow over the incident. Netizens condemned the man's actions, especially considering the wife had just undergone childbirth and was still recovering physically and emotionally.
