In a moment of global recognition, a 17-year-old Nigerian student, Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, has emerged as the World Best in English Language Skills at the prestigious 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.

Nafisa, who represented the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), achieved this outstanding feat after competing against more than 20,000 students from 69 countries around the world. Her victory marks a remarkable triumph in a competition that rigorously tests participants on their English proficiency, critical thinking, public speaking, and overall communication skills.

The TeenEagle competition is internationally recognized for its challenging academic structure and inclusivity, drawing students from both English-speaking nations and countries where English is not the first language. This adds further weight to Nafisa's accomplishment, showcasing her exceptional talent and mastery of the English language on a truly global scale.

Reacting to this historic win, Hassan Salifu, the head of Nafisa’s family, commended her relentless discipline, dedication, and academic commitment. He also lauded the crucial support provided by the Yobe State Government, which played a significant role in her educational journey.

“Our daughter’s global success would not have been possible without the visionary support for education by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose efforts have brought international honour to our state and nation,” Salifu stated with pride.

Salifu went on to emphasize that Nafisa outshined participants from native English-speaking countries, describing her win as a reflection of not only her hard work but also the rising quality of Nigeria’s educational system.

News of Nafisa’s victory has sparked widespread celebrations across Yobe State, with citizens, students, and leaders hailing her as a beacon of excellence and a new symbol of hope and inspiration for young Nigerians. Her success is being seen as a major milestone in showcasing the academic potential within Nigeria, especially in northern regions often overlooked in global educational rankings.

In addition, her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the management and academic staff of NTIC, crediting the school’s environment, mentorship, and dedication to excellence as crucial factors in shaping Nafisa’s academic journey and confidence.

“Nafisa’s success is a testament to the power of educational investment. Governor Buni’s commitment has not only transformed schools in the state but also positioned Yobe and Nigeria on the global stage,” her family remarked, encouraging continued focus on empowering young minds through education.
