According to an official statement released on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, by the President of the Dentistry Students’ Association, Adebayo Idris, the heartbreaking incident occurred barely a day after the release of the latest examination results on August 12. The news has left the university community, especially the Faculty of Dentistry, in a state of shock and mourning.

“It is with deep sadness, pain, and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of one of our dear colleagues in the Faculty of Dentistry. This is a huge blow to us as an academic family. We have received the devastating news that he took his own life shortly after the release of his examination result, and the circumstances surrounding this act have left us all shaken and deeply concerned.”

He further lamented that the tragic loss is not merely about the untimely departure of a brilliant young mind but also a grim reminder of the unseen emotional and psychological burdens many students quietly carry. He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, close friends, classmates, and everyone who ever crossed paths with the late Ajibola, urging them to take comfort in his cherished memories.
