Former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jacob Mark, has asserted that it is not the PDP that should be making moves to bring back Peter Obi, but rather Peter Obi himself who ought to be reaching out and seeking to return to the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Mark, the PDP remains a robust and well-structured party, boasting 37 state chairmen in addition to a functioning leadership framework that includes executives at every local government and ward level across Nigeria. He contrasted this with other political parties, which, in his words, operate with far less organization—often limited to just a national chairman.

Mark maintained that the PDP’s enduring national presence and organizational strength make it a formidable political platform. He stressed that any politician with serious ambitions, especially those eyeing national leadership, should be keen to align themselves with such a well-rooted political force.
In a related development, Professor Jerry Gana, a respected founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has consistently voiced his support for the return of former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, to the PDP. Gana believes that Obi could potentially become the party’s flagbearer in the 2027 presidential election, should he decide to return and contest under the PDP’s banner.
