Aisha Buhari, the widow of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has officially relocated from Daura in Katsina State to Kaduna, along with her family. This transition marks a significant moment for the former First Lady as she begins a new chapter following the death of her husband earlier in the year.

The relocation occurred on Sunday, July 28, 2025. Aisha Buhari and her family arrived at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Kaduna, where they were warmly received by a delegation of dignitaries and state officials. The reception was led by the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, alongside the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Munira Tanimu.

Upon arrival, the family settled into the former president’s residence located at Ungwan Rimi GRA, Kaduna — a house with deep historical and emotional significance. This was the same residence Muhammadu Buhari lived in before traveling to London for medical treatment during his time as Nigeria’s president.

This move by the former First Lady follows her late husband’s own return to Kaduna in February 2025. After nearly two years of maintaining a quiet, low-profile existence in Daura following his departure from office in May 2023, the former president made a publicized return to the same Kaduna residence earlier this year.

His homecoming was notably marked by the presence of high-profile dignitaries including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, all of whom paid courtesy visits to the elder statesman.

Aisha Buhari’s relocation to Kaduna signifies both a return to familiarity and a fresh start as the family adjusts to life without the late former president. The move also highlights Kaduna’s continuing relevance as a political and personal base for the Buhari family.
