Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has recently opened up about a deeply personal decision to freeze her eggs as a precautionary measure for the future. In a candid interview with media personality Zeze Mills, the 42-year-old singer shared her motivations behind this choice, encouraging women aged 30 and above to consider taking similar steps to safeguard their fertility.

Tiwa Savage, who welcomed her first child and only child in 2015 at the age of 34 with her ex-husband, Teebillz, revealed that while having her child in her 30s was a beautiful experience because she was more financially and emotionally stable, she wishes she had taken the step of freezing her eggs earlier. Her message to women in their 30s was clear and empowering: regardless of whether they currently want children or not, they should consider freezing their eggs to preserve their reproductive options.

“Having my first child in my 30s was beautiful because I was more financially and emotionally stable. One advice I will give to women in their 30s is, whether you want to have children or not, freeze your eggs,” she stated emphatically, underscoring the importance of planning ahead.

Further emphasizing her point, Tiwa added, “I wish I did it earlier. But I’ve done it now. I don’t know if I want more kids but in case I do, I’ve done that just to have that insurance. Because I don’t know if we are born with a certain amount of egg reserves, you could wake up at 36 and your egg reserve is done. And then that’s when you decide you want to have kids. So, I’m really a big advocate for egg freezing now.”

Her heartfelt advice highlights the unpredictable nature of fertility and the empowerment that comes with having options. By sharing her experience, Tiwa Savage is helping to raise awareness among women about reproductive health and the benefits of modern fertility preservation techniques.
