The controversy began when Sophia shared a video clip on her Snapstory featuring an American man discussing the challenges of dating a “free-spirited woman.” She captioned the post “Surviving a free spirit,” highlighting the independent nature of such women.

The clip partly read, “Messing with a free-spirited woman is not for the weak. She is free, and she has no problem showing you that she is free. My brother, that woman doesn’t belong to you.” This resonated with Sophia’s bold personality and hinted at her mindset regarding relationships.

Following this post, a Snapchat user took the opportunity to advise the mother of one to settle down and get married, suggesting she should take a cue from Wizkid’s babymamas, who “hardly post” on social media and are perceived to “respect themselves.” This unsolicited advice did not sit well with Sophia, who responded sharply.

In a fiery reply, Sophia wished the critic and their loved ones to go blind, questioning how they could watch her content if they disliked her so much. She strongly asserted her self-worth by declaring, “Sarah, I hope you, your family and everyone you love go blind, cos how are you watching me when you don’t like me? Please, leave women alone. Imagine thinking you can make me feel bad cos my voice/platform is heavy. I am the prize hoe!”

Another user, while showing some admiration for Sophia, cautioned her to watch her tone to avoid unnecessary drama. Sophia dismissed this advice unapologetically, stating:

“Sweetie, I dgaf what a bunch of brokies who are dedicated to misunderstanding me have to say. Those who matter don’t mind. Also, y’all need to understand I’m a bigger bully. God is just working on me. And another thing, don’t ever come on my platform to tell me what I can or can’t talk about. Also, it’s Sophia to you.”

In a subsequent post, Sophia told anyone who dislikes her yet continues to watch her content that they should “check into a mental institute.” She also revealed that some critics had been flooding her direct messages because she hasn’t bleached her skin, a choice that has drawn unnecessary scrutiny.

“Are you people even okay? Is it by force to be yellow with weird-looking knuckles?” she questioned rhetorically, standing firm on her natural appearance and refusing to conform to societal pressures.
