NCAA Petitions AGF, IGP Over K1 De Ultimate Incident

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially submitted a petition to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, calling for a comprehensive criminal investigation into the recent incident involving legendary Fuji musician, King Wasiu Omogbolahan Olasunkanmi Adewale Ayinde Marshal, famously known as K1 De Ultimate. The situation also involves domestic airline operator, ValueJet.

The appeal follows an incident that occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, which allegedly disrupted the normal operations of a commercial flight and raised serious concerns regarding passenger conduct, aviation security, and flight protocol adherence. The matter has generated widespread public interest, given K1 De Ultimate’s high-profile status in the country.

According to the official statement released by the NCAA, preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that during ValueJet flight VK201, K1 De Ultimate may have been involved in behavior that potentially violated Nigeria’s civil aviation regulations. Though the full details remain under investigation, the incident reportedly affected routine airline operations and may have posed risks to flight safety.

In the petition addressed to both the Attorney-General and the Inspector-General of Police, the NCAA has requested that a full-scale criminal inquiry be launched, followed by legal proceedings, in accordance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 and other applicable federal laws that govern civil aviation and public safety.

The agency emphasized its legal and regulatory responsibilities to maintain order and safety across Nigeria’s airspace and called for swift action to determine accountability. The letter further detailed the necessity for strong measures to deter similar conduct in the future.

The statement read in part: “Furthermore, and in light of the growing concern, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, has also issued an advisory to the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), urging the immediate consideration and institution of a No-Fly List for K1 De Ultimate (on any commercial flight), pending the outcome of official investigations.”

This advisory aligns with international aviation protocols, which prioritize the safety and security of passengers, flight crews, and airline operations. A No-Fly List, while uncommon for celebrities in Nigeria, is a globally recognized practice for enforcing discipline and ensuring zero tolerance for behavior that jeopardizes air travel safety.

The NCAA further reiterated its firm commitment to protecting the integrity of Nigeria’s aviation system. The agency stated that all passengers—regardless of fame, social status, or public recognition—must abide by the same standards of conduct and respect for aviation safety rules within the country’s regulated airspace.

The petition is expected to initiate a multi-agency review, and depending on the findings, may result in criminal prosecution, fines, flight bans, or other sanctions as provided under existing Nigerian aviation laws.[/p>
