The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, widely recognized as MC Oluomo, has issued a heartfelt appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to extend forgiveness to veteran Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate. The appeal comes in the wake of recent allegations involving breaches of aviation regulations, which have placed the 68-year-old entertainer at the center of public and regulatory scrutiny.
K1 De Ultimate was recently accused by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) of flouting air travel safety rules during the boarding process of ValueJet Airlines Flight VK 201 from Abuja to Lagos. According to the official statement from FAAN’s spokesperson, Obiageli Orah, the legendary musician allegedly carried alcohol onto the aircraft — a practice that is explicitly prohibited on domestic flights within Nigeria. This alleged action reportedly escalated into a heated confrontation with a member of the cabin crew.
Following these events, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), in collaboration with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, imposed a six-month no-fly ban on Kwam 1, covering both domestic and international flights. The decision was said to be pending the outcome of further investigations into the incident, which occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s local wing in Abuja. The sanction also extended to the pilot involved, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi.
In an official statement shared via his Instagram account on Monday, MC Oluomo passionately pleaded not only with President Tinubu but also with the NCAA’s Director-General, Capt. Chris Najomo, and Minister Keyamo, to show compassion in their decision-making regarding the matter.
Expressing his plea in deeply respectful terms, MC Oluomo wrote:
“To His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers of Nigeria (NURTW), humbly and fervently appeal to you to exercise mercy and forgiveness towards Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1). Like the prodigal son in the scriptures, K1 has realized his mistakes, expressed genuine remorse, and has shown a willingness to make amends for his actions.”
He further added: “I respectfully and earnestly request that the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barrister Festus Keyamo, SAN, consider tempering justice with mercy by lifting the ban imposed on K1 and the pilot, Oluranti Ogoyi, following the regrettable events that transpired at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s domestic terminal in Abuja.”
MC Oluomo’s public call for leniency has sparked conversations across social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on whether K1’s apology should be enough to warrant the lifting of the strict sanctions.
