Veteran Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding a recent incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. In his detailed statement, the legendary singer issued a heartfelt apology while also setting the record straight about what really happened — particularly regarding a flask he was seen carrying.

K1 clarified that the flask, which sparked speculation and rumours of alcohol possession, contained nothing but water. He explained that he has a medical condition that requires him to remain constantly hydrated, and as such, he always carries water with him wherever he goes.

“The incident that occurred at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was, to say the least, unfortunate,” he stated.

“Unknown to many, I suffer from chronic dehydration, and my doctor strongly advised that I remain constantly hydrated. This is why I always carry a water flask with me.”

According to K1, during the initial airport screening, the flask he carried was completely empty. It was only filled with water much later, at the airport lounge, before he proceeded toward the aircraft boarding area.

“Contrary to the negative narrative being circulated in some quarters, the flask contained only water, not alcohol,” he reiterated, firmly denying any allegations of alcohol possession or misconduct.

The music icon also took the opportunity to dispel misleading reports suggesting he was deboarded from a flight. He made it clear that he never even boarded the plane in question. To support his claims, he encouraged relevant authorities to verify the events through available CCTV footage at the airport.

In the spirit of responsibility and respect, K1 extended his sincere apologies to several entities and individuals. He specifically mentioned the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, FAAN, NCAA, ValueJet Airlines, and the general Nigerian public. He emphasized his long-standing commitment to upholding a clean image over his decades-long career and reaffirmed his loyalty to national institutions.
