Singer Iyanya has dismissed circulating reports accusing talent manager Ubi Franklin of stealing a luxury watch from renowned jeweler Benny the Jeweler, calling the allegations false and malicious.
The rumours, which went viral on social media, claimed that Ubi withheld a watch he initially expressed interest in buying from Benny. According to the reports, Ubi allegedly claimed he had returned the watch, but Benny insisted it was missing and even threatened to involve law enforcement. The story further alleged that Ubi later said he found the watch in his pocket without knowing how it got there.
Social media user Bisibalo amplified the claims, alleging that damage control was being done to protect Ubi’s image and that Davido did not want the matter to “cast” publicly.
Iyanya, however, has strongly refuted these claims. Taking to social media, he insisted that the jeweler had already debunked the theft allegations and that the entire controversy was a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing Ubi Franklin’s reputation.
“This is a Big lie. The jeweler has come out to deny this, it was a gist fabricated to tarnish Ubi’s name by those who don’t like him within that circle. I will not let my brother be dragged for nothing,” Iyanya stated.
