Award-winning Nollywood actress, Evan Okoro, has issued a heartfelt public appeal, revealing distressing details about her troubled marriage to Prince Chibuzor Nwachimelueze. According to the actress, her life is currently under threat, and she fears for her safety.
The couple had a traditional wedding ceremony on April 13, 2025, in Evan Okoro’s hometown, which was initially celebrated with much joy and fanfare. However, the actress now says the marriage has become a source of emotional and physical distress.
In a video that has since gone viral, Evan Okoro emotionally disclosed that she wants to end her marriage, but her husband has allegedly threatened to kill her if she dares to leave. The actress, visibly shaken, stressed that she is currently living in fear and feels unsafe even in her own home.
She further stated that she had filed a formal petition with the police against her husband, who was reportedly invited to the station for questioning. Despite this, she insists that more needs to be done, and she is calling on the public and relevant authorities to intervene for her safety.
“My life is more important to me. The shoe that I took home is not my size. I’m living in fear. Something strong is happening to me. If I don’t come out to say it, I don’t know where I will be tomorrow. He’s threatening my life. I don’t want the marriage anymore. I’ve been living in fear since,” she said in the video.
The actress also revealed that her husband has not yet paid her bride price, a matter which prompted her family to recently reach out to him for resolution. This, she said, further complicates the legitimacy and future of their union.
According to Evan Okoro, every attempt to reconcile or rebuild the marriage has failed. She warned her husband not to harm her or any member of her family, insisting that she has done everything possible to resolve matters peacefully.
Evan claimed that her husband entered the marriage under false assumptions—particularly about her financial status. She alleged that he married her believing she was wealthy, based on the house she had already built before their wedding.
“This guy married me thinking that I’ve money to spend. When he came into my life, I thought it was all love and I saw the way it was going,” she explained.
To make matters worse, Evan Okoro said that her husband has not been physically intimate with her since their wedding night. She revealed that she had reported the issue to his family members, but nothing was done to address it.
